Steve Murphy (percussion) and Jeff Johanson (acoustic guitar) have been performing in bands together for quite some time.
The two long-time friends, both lead vocalists with unusually high ranges, have now come together to find that less is more in their new duo project called the Two Tenors of Rock. Listeners of TTR are often shocked to find only 2 men on stage comparing the sound of the duo to that of a full band.
These factors in conjunction with their combined vocal strength give the duo a unique sound and novelty effect.
Their repertoire includes literally hundreds of songs..  many of which are re-interpreted versions of  rock classics such as Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir” and “Immigrant Song”, “Africa” by Toto, as well as their own original songs.  The boys have spent every Tuesday evening the past 2 years perfecting their sound at NYC’s trendy night-club, Prohibition. TTR has also performed at numerous private events including holiday parties for the cast of ABC’s “All My Children” & “One Life To Live”, the CBS Early Show,  at college campuses (NYU, Brooklyn College), and as a “strolling duo” at Belmont and Saratoga Racetracks.
The boys are also quite comfortable with each other as well as with accommodating random song requests which makes for a memorable interactive experience between audience and entertainers.
